BCT needed new machines to meet rising demand in its area from the house-building and commercial construction sectors.
The new machines are a 14-tonne Volvo EC140E and a 16-tonne EC160E. The company already had a 14-tonne Volvo that had been suitably reliable, said managing director Brian Turner.
“T Volvo fourteen tonner is a well-built machine in my opinion and it’s a respected brand on the market,” he said.
“Besides adding a new EC140E, we took the decision to add the larger 16-tonne model as well to give us more flexibility for working on larger sites. A good deal of the work we also undertake on site involves dealing with drainage, shoring excavations and handling drag box trench supports and the EC160E has that extra power and more lifting capacity to handle these activities,” he added.
