The autoclaved aerated masonry blocks are a standard brick height (65mm) but retain the length of a block (440mm), so fewer are needed. They are used for bonding and infill to achieve a uniform thermal performance throughout the wall and also protect against pattern staining.
“The new blocks will save builders time and mortar when they are infilling above doors and windows or making up between joists,” said Chris Hornby, Hanson’s head of product services.
“They are designed to be used with general purpose mortar and Thermalite Thin Layer mortar and offer compressive strength of at least 7.3N/mm2.”
Thermalite Hi-Strength Coursing Blocks benefit from the range’s sustainability credentials and product performance in helping meet all current Building Regulations, including Part L, as well as the Code for Sustainable Homes (CfSH).
