The homes will be built for the municipality of Utrecht next to the district’s central shopping area. The total project is valued at over €40m (£34.5m).
Heijmans said that it was awarded the contract on the basis of the high quality and sustainability of its plan, which involves building the homes in a semi-enclosed block. The project features a combination of sustainability measures, including PV cells on the roof and the façade.
Construction will begin in mid-2018, following the development phase, with completion planned for approximately two years after that.
