The acquisition – which is Hewden’s second of this year - is in line with the company's commitment to providing sustainable hire solutions.
A range of equipment will be added to Hewden’s product portfolio as part of the acquisition, including generators, hybrid units, solar panels, distribution units, cables and lighting solutions.
Hewden CEO Adrian Murphy said, “Sustainability is no longer a ‘nice to have’, but rather a fundamental part of how businesses should run. Hewden is committed to providing the most sustainable solutions possible from the products we hire to the places we operate.
“This investment allows us to expand our portfolio of sustainable power products and ensure we deliver on our promise to be the leading on-site solutions provider in the UK.”
The acquisition of Firefly’s rental business follows more than £25m-worth of investment this year on products such as generators, skid steer and tracked loaders, telehandlers, non-mechanical plant and cranes. It also follows Hewden’s acquisition of lifting and materials handling firm, Interlift at the start of the year.
“We’re going into new areas such as events, as well as specialist parts of the industrial sector,” said Murphy. “Over the past 12 months we’ve restructured the business to take a more sector-based approach.”
