The contract also includes an aircraft apron and associated infrastructure at the base, which is located 40km south‐west of Brisbane on the outskirts of Ipswich.
The contract will generate revenue to CPB Contractors of approximately AU$180m (£108m). CPB Contractors managing director Román Garrido said: “The C‐17A project is significant in that it will upgrade aircraft fleet facilities to world‐class standard and improve the engineering and maintenance operations at the RAAF’s largest base in Australia.”
As managing contractor, CPB Contractors will deliver a new maintenance facility, aircraft apron and associated airfield infrastructure and ground support equipment facilities.
Construction is scheduled to begin in February 2017 and conclude in October 2018.
