It is looking for 65 people to join the Travelodge ‘Men in Black’ (MIB) team that was set up last year. Responsibilities of the maintenance support include plumbing, fixing appliances, decorating and general maintenance within the hotels.

Travelodge managing director Paul Harvey said: “I believe we are the only UK hotel company that invests in an in-house maintenance function.  With having over 500 Travelodge’s and growing at good pace, employing direct trade professionals makes good business sense. It ensures we have a dedicated resource on hand whose main objective is to ensure all of our hotels are in good working order at all times.”

Eight of the 65 positions are for decorators and the rest are for maintenance operatives. Candidates will be required to have either City and Guilds (6129) Certificate in Basic Plumbing and NVQ Level 2 or electrical certification to 17 Edition (2382/10); Inspection and testing (2391/10) and Part P registered with a government body (e.g. NICEIC), NVQ Level 3.

City and Guilds Carpentry and Joinery (6217) and NVQ Level 2, Painting and Decorating City and Guilds and NVQ Level 2 and a current CSCS card would also be an advantage.
