The planning application for the 250-acre site was lodged by Legal & General Property (LGP)
Proposals include a primary school, a care home, a neighbourhood centre and a community centre as well as housing.
Legal & General fund manager Nick Baker said: “By investing long-term capital in housing and infrastructure, we believe that Legal & General has an important role to play in helping to address the UK’s chronic housing shortage and supporting its social fabric. Forming just one element of this strategy, the Crowthorne proposals will re-use this previously developed site for 1,000 new homes as part of a comprehensive, well designed, mixed-use redevelopment, whilst making a significant contribution to meeting Bracknell Forest Council’s identified housing requirement. ”
