ICE joins ethics coalition

26 Nov 15 The Institution of Civil Engineers (ICE) has joined an international coalition that is putting together what is described as ‘the first set of globally-recognised ethics standards for real estate and built environment professional organisations’.

The International Ethics Standards Coalition (IESC) was created at the United Nations in New York in October 2014. It has member organisations in China, Brazil, Dubai, Russia and India, among other countries. The ICE is the 60th organisation to join the coalition.

IESC members – many of which already have their own codes of conduct – are working together to align their stated ethics through a new international standard. The new International Ethics Standard could be ready by early 2016, the ICE said.

ICE membership director Sean Harris said: “ICE has its own robust standards and codes of conduct and is committed to working with our fellow global professionals in developing a common ethics standard. Establishing this important standard across the entire supply chain will enhance transparency, consistency and trust in the services being offered by professionals in what is a global interconnected market place.”
