The centre is being built through the Leeds Education Partnership for Leeds City Council, funded by the private finance initiative (PFI).
Due to open in December 2013, the development will replace Holt Park leisure centre and include a 25m swimming pool, café, learning disability services, gym, hydrotherapy pool and activity rooms.
Interserve operations director Gareth Edwards said: “Interserve is responsible for delivering 23 schemes under the Leeds Building Schools for the Future Programme, representing some £350m of investment for the people of Leeds. This project will bring tremendous benefits to the local community and, with work getting underway, we are really looking forward to making it a reality.”
