Working for engineering, procurement and construction contractor Keppel Seghers, Interserve will deliver access and mechanical services during phase one of this two-phase project. Project client is Viridor.
Interserve’s equipment service division, RMD Kwikform, is also providing access and scaffolding services along with formwork and falsework for the project under a contract worth up to £4m.
The energy-from-waste plant will include a combined heat and power plant capable of processing 420,000t a year of solid recovered fuel derived from household waste. At full capacity it will be able to supply 270,000 MWh of electricity and 500,000t of steam per year.
Bill Craig, Interserve managing director - industrial, said: “The plant is one of the largest waste and renewable energy projects in Europe and Interserve’s involvement will consolidate our position as a leading solutions provider in this growing UK market sector.
“We are looking forward to working with Keppel Seghers on what we are sure will be an exciting and challenging project to bring renewable energy sources to a wide area.”
