The development, for North East Lincolnshire Council, includes a 25-metre, eight-lane swimming pool, a health and fitness suite with studio space and associated ancillary facilities including a café.
Construction will begin alongside the existing leisure centre on the Cromwell Road site next this summer, with a planned opening date of autumn 2015.
Interserve divisional director John Gittins said: “This isn’t just another project for Interserve, it is a really exciting local leisure investment.”
He added: “There are now many leisure centres nationally that are expensive to operate and look tired. This new centre will be exemplar and efficient.”
The council was advised by facilities management contractor Cofely, part of the French GDF Suez group.
