The scheme, which is supported by the European Regional Development Fund, is part of a wider programme of investment by the University at the Advanced Manufacturing Park to help create a world leading AMRC hub for materials testing, research and advanced engineering. ISG will build a 2,000 sq m extension to the existing Factory of the Future building to provide capacity for an expanded Composite Centre. The single-storey steel frame building will feature a general workshop and a controlled environment with three high specification clean rooms accessed via air locks. The new structure will incorporate an internal gantry crane to provide a heavy lift capability at the facility and the extension is expected to achieve a BREEAM excellent rating. The project is due to commence in mid-June, with completion scheduled for spring 2012. Â
