A 4.3km stretch of new dual carriageway between Kettering and Wellingborough in Northamptonshire had been planned by the county council and bids were invited from contractors back in November 2009, with a view to starting on site in August 2010.
However, the project fell victim to the spending review and is firmly towards the back of the queue of the Department for Transport's priorities. It will not even be considered for funding until 2015, at the earliest.
