The Salini Impregilo Group has a 58% share in the contract, which will create 2,000 jobs.
The new motorway will run across Libya for 1,700km, from the Tunisian border to the Egyptian border. The 400km first section of the coastal motorway will link the city of Marj to Emsaad, on the Egyptian border. The work includes the construction of 12 bridges, eight service areas and six parking areas.
