Mitsubishi Heavy Industries, Hitachi and Sumitomo were awarded the contract by State Railway of Thailand (SRT) to design and build the M&E system as a full turn-key package. The contract price is approximately 32.399 billion Thai Baht (£805m) and completion of the construction is expected in 2020.
MHI will be responsible for design and procurement of systems other than rolling stock, Hitachi will be responsible for the design and build of rolling stock, and Sumitomo will be responsible for administration work and the local installation work.
The fully elevated line is being built in two sections – a  26.4km northern part and 14.6km to the west.
