The CBI took a relatively strong pro European Union line during the recent referendum, reflecting the views of the vast majority of its members. JCB owner Lord Bamford came out as a Leaver and advised his employees to follow suit.
CBI is now lobbying for the UK to remain a member of the single market outside of the EU.
A JCB spokesperson told Sky News that the company had ended its membership of the CBI, but did not give reasons why.
A CBI spokesperson said: "It's always a shame to see any member leave the CBI, but we recognise that businesses have competing priorities and we respect that."
