Australia’s acting prime minister Warren Truss said that it is anticipated the contract will be awarded in the coming weeks.
Work is due to start in early 2016 on the Tonkin Grade Separations, the first stage of the project.
The Australian government has committed more than AU$894m and the Western Australian government more than AU$223 million to the NorthLink WA project. "NorthLink WA is a game changing project that will reduce congestion on major freight corridors and support thousands of new jobs," said Truss.
The project includes highway upgrades and flyovers over interchanges.
