Miller was a new contractor to the Framework when it was announced earlier this year and the contract at Manchester Crown Court (Crown Square) is the company’s first since its appointment.

Miller ե֭ is one of five contractors to be appointed to the Northern Framework.

Work is due to begin in Manchester later this year and complete in March 2013.

Chief executive Chris Webster said: “This is a very significant contract for us.  We were pleased to be included on the framework as a strategic delivery partner in the North and are delighted to have secured our first contract, which is incidentally the first to be let.  Our appointment to the framework is in line with our business strategy to develop long term relationships, and we look forward to showcasing our high-end delivery capabilities.”

Manchester Crown Court (Crown Square) will remain fully operational throughout the works, which have been programmed to minimise disruption to court operations.

The contract comprises upgrades and replacements of holding cells, lifts and M&E services.  The current holding cells are to be upgraded and renewed; and new goods and passenger lifts will be installed.  Lighting and heating will be improved.

Mr Webster added: “We are fully committed to this framework and the delivery of its projects over the next six years.  Justice is one of our developing markets and this contract will see us build on our experience gained during the delivery of Bristol Civil Justice Centre and the award winning North Tyneside Area Command Headquarters.”
