The land, previously owned by the Homes & Communities Agency (HCA), includes part of the former Circatex factory site and is next to the zero carbon housing development at Sinclair Meadows
The new homes will include 20 council properties, which will be available to rent through South Tyneside Homes, with the remainder for sale through Keepmoat.
Keepmoat director Ian Prescott said: “Our £30m Trinity South scheme will have a significant impact on the local community. In addition to developing high quality, new and affordable homes in an attractive landscaped setting, we are engaging with local businesses to create employment and training opportunities for local people. We have already received a lot of interest from people enquiring about the new homes for sale and a showhome is expected to be open for viewing in August.”
The development is designed to meet Level 3 of the government’s Code for Sustainable Homes.
