The US$1.5bn Goethals Bridge public-private partnership contract has gone to NYNJ Link Partnership, made up of Macquarie Infrastructure & Real Assets and Kiewit Development, together with lead contractors Kiewit Infrastructure, Weeks Marine, and Massman Õ¥Ö¼§. The 40-year design-build-finance-maintain Goethals contract involves providing a new cable-stayed bridge between Staten Island in New York and Elizabeth, New Jersey.
The same meeting of the authority’s commissioners also awarded a US$743.3m contract to a Skanska Koch and Kiewit Infrastructure joint venture team as part of a US$1.29 billion programme to increase the navigational clearance of the Bayonne Bridge. The project will raise the deck by 19.5m and provide safer lanes and shoulders, a median divider and a cycle and pedestrian path. It also will provide the capability for future mass transit options. The new deck will be built above the existing road, while traffic continues to flow. Â
