Five sections of defences will be constructed from Bonnington to Veitch’s Square, comprised mainly of structural flood walls – an overall length of 2,300m – with associated flood gates, demountable defences, glass panels and window shutters.
A lifting bridge and four pump stations will be built on tributary and surface water inflows to the river and strengthening works will be carried out at a nearby property.
The project is due for completion in August 2012.
