By the time Laing O’Rourke has finished in 2018, Intu Watford will offer 130,000 m2 (1.4 million square feet) of shopping. As well as new larger retail units, the intu Watford extension will include 10 restaurants, a leisure attraction plus a Cineworld cinema complex.
Intu regional director Rebecca Ryman said it would “transform the centre into a contemporary shopping experience”.
Laing O’Rourke has already been supervising the demolition of the town’s Charter Place development.
Liam Cummins, head of UK construction at Laing O’Rourke, said: “We are delighted to be continuing to develop our partnership with Intu, and look forward to delivering this transformational retail project for Watford."
