Leadbitter builds Weymouth housing scheme

13 Aug 12 Leadbitter has been awarded a contract to design and build 62 new affordable homes in Weymouth, Dorset.

The £5.5m Fairway Court development is being delivered on behalf of social housing provider Synergy Housing. Working with Leadbitter are GSS Architecture and structural engineer AKS Ward.

Leadbitter is replacing an existing block of sheltered flats and eight bungalows with 44 new apartments in three, two and three storey blocks, along with 18 new houses.

The new homes back onto Weymouth golf club. They will be of traditional construction and are designed to meet Code for Sustainable Homes Level 3. Leadbitter’s contract includes construction of an adopted road, car parking and communal gardens for apartment residents.

Synergy Housing regional development director Fiona Astin said: “Synergy is delighted to be working with Leadbitter on this project, replacing a tired sheltered scheme with new affordable rented homes for Weymouth and Portland. Their track record of working sensitively in close proximity to existing residents makes them an ideal partner.”
