Brisbane City Council's AU$650m (£304m) project will see the road widened from four to six lanes between Eagle Farm and Hamilton. It also includes additional improvement works.
"We are pleased to have been named successful tenderer for one of Brisbane's biggest infrastructure projects and look forward to finalising the project contract with Brisbane City Council in the coming weeks," said Brian Gillon, acting managing director of Lendlease's engineering business. "Kingsford Smith Drive is one of the most significant routes in the city for the state's economic prosperity. It also provides one of the first impressions of Brisbane for residents, visitors and tourists alike travelling from the airport.
Initial construction activities for the Kingsford Smith Drive upgrade are expected to start in early 2016.
