Liebherr’s factory in Ehingen, Germany, has now produced more than 2,000 units of the two-axle machine – more than any other all-terrain model any manufacturer has ever made.
The two-axle LTM 1030-2.1 was launched by Liebherr at the 1997 Intermat fair in Paris as the 30-tonne capacity LTM 1030/2. It was the first mobile crane in the world to be equipped with data bus transfer technology. Another trail-blazing feature was the console display in the cab, arranged in a semi-circle and making use of a film keyboard.
It soon became market leader in its class and remains so to this day.
The 2,000th unit was sold to northern German rental company Warnowkran Kranservice.
