The order comprised 30 of the Cat 308E hydraulic excavator and eight Cat D6N track-type tractors. Lynch previously had just four of these.
Operations director Merrill Lynch said: “Following the recent upturn in the economy, the demand for plant equipment has given the company the opportunity to further expand our fleet. Our initial significant investment in Cat machinery from Finning proved to be very popular with our customers and met our commitment to providing the best construction equipment on the market. Following this, we decided to approach Finning with the view to purchasing more Cat equipment.
“A number of higher-profile projects that the machines are now working on are required to meet stage IIIB emissions standards and both the Cat D6N and Cat 320EL comply with these regulations. Not only do they offer us and our customers’ great economical performance but they give us the scope to get further involved in large projects such as Crossrail.”
