TfGM wants to let a contract for the detailed design and construction of the Leigh to Ellenbrook guided busway (LEGB), part of the Leigh-Salford-Manchester busway scheme.
The Leigh to Ellenbrook route uses the former and disused rail corridor that runs 7 km between Leigh town centre and Newearth Road in Ellenbrook close to the A580 in Manchester.
Work required on the project includes off-highway dedicated guided bus lanes in each direction for vehicles adapted with kerb guidance technology, as well as associated bridges, structures, drainage, service diversions and fencing.
There will also be two park and ride sites and several new traffic signal controlled junctions where the busway connects to and crosses the existing public highway. Advance works were completed last year on tow of the junctions.
