The new range covers machines up to the 18-metre class MT1840.
Manitou’s new MT732 to MT1840 Easy telehandlers meet European Union Stage IIIB emissions requirements by using a 55.4kW (75hp) Deutz TD36L engine with a diesel oxidation catalyst (DOC). The engine does not require a diesel particulate filter (DPF)) or the use of a diesel exhaust fluid (DEF) such as AdBlue. Fitting a smaller, less complicated power unit results in a more competitive new machine price and reduced maintenance costs, the French manufacturer says. It also offers a wider choice of disposal options as an used Easy model can be sold into unregulated markets, Manitou points out.
Distinguished by distinctive black pattern decals on the sides of their cabs and engine covers, the MT732 to MT1840 Easy machines provide the same load charts and front-end hydraulic performance as the previous 75kW (100hp) models with Perkins engines. Maximum travel speed on the Easy models is 25 km/h.
The extended Easy range includes a new MT1030 – a stabiliser fitted machine that has a maximum capacity of 3,000kg and a maximum lift height just shy of 10 metres.
For those needing more power and heavy-duty bucket use, the higher rated (100hp) Perkins powered MT1135, MT1335, MT1440 and MT1840 machines can still be selected as an alternative to their Deutz powered Easy equivalents.
The new MT1135 and MT1335 Easy machines benefit from a tighter turning radius (down from 3.85 metres to 3.65 metres) due to an axle modification. And the MT1440 and MT1840 Easy models gain a smoother and more powerful steering system, Manitou says.
The new Easy telehandlers come with Manitou’s improved Active Load Regulation system and can be supplied with either ‘Standard’ or ‘Comfort’ levels of finish. The latter incudes a tiltable steering column, a roof window wiper, sun visor, an extra hydraulic attachment line and an opening lower section to the engine bonnet.
Other options for Easy machines include a telematics system, frame levelling, a KAB pneumatic seat, air conditioning and an in-cab radio.
Manitou displayed the MT625 Easy, MT732 Easy, MT1135 Easy and MT625 Easy machines at Plantworx 2017 this week. Manitou UK sales director Peter Smyth said that the availability of a wider range of the lower-cost Easy models was already generating increased sales to both rental companies and end-users.
