20 Oct 11 Mansell has won a £40 million student accommodation contract in Central London for Urbanest.

This significant new building will form part of the 67 acre Kings Cross Central development. It will be the tallest on the site with the accommodation arranged across a 14-storey shoulder building and 27-storey tower.

The building will provide 657 student bedrooms, across 196 units arranged in clusters, with shared living spaces and kitchens or self-contained studios.

In addition to the accommodation units the building will include 356 sq m of retail space, common rooms, roof terraces, laundry and a management suite.

At the northern end of the development, a new landscaped courtyard space will be open to the public and will contain seating, planting and public art.

The building is designed to be highly sustainable, aiming to achieve major carbon savings and a BREEAM “Excellent” rating.

The contract will start on site this month and will be ready for occupation for the 2013/14 academic year.
