The centres in Heanor and Darley Dale will together a cost £16m.
The developments will provide residential and day care activities for older people, including those with dementia, as well as community facilities.
Sustainability features to be installed by the Balfour Beatty subsidiary include a storm water attenuation system, rainwater harvesting, air source heat pumps and eco–cell passenger lifts. The centre at Darley Dale will have a green roof with sedum matting, carefully designed to provide attractive habitats for wildlife.
Balfour Beatty regional managing director Ian Taylor said: “We are delighted to have been awarded these two prestigious contracts to work with Derbyshire County Council and provide further specialised care facilities that can be enjoyed by local residents. We look forward to safely and efficiently delivering both projects for the community and investing in local people and businesses in doing so.”
The Darley Dale site is scheduled to open by the end of 2014, followed shortly by the Heanor site in January 2015.
