18 new timber framed homes are currently being constructed as part of a £2.4 million contract for Great Places Housing Group.
The Housing Design Awards praise the finest housing schemes taking into account a number of considerations including relationship to surroundings and neighbourhood, sustainability in construction and attention to safety, security and accessibility. The awards are promoted by Communities and Local Government, National House Building Council, Royal Institutes of British Architecture, the Royal Town Planning Institute, Homea and Communities Agency the Royal Institute of Chartered Surveyors and the Home Builders Federation.
Built to Code for Sustainable Homes Level 3, the homes will utilise renewable technologies, low energy lighting and water saving measures, which will contribute to the reduction of residents energy bills.
The development will house all remaining residents who used to live in the area and want to return, as well as providing affordable housing for people who want to move to the regenerated community.
Mansell’s Regional Managing Director, Stuart Belfield, said, “We are thrilled that “The Guts” has been recognised by this award. ե֭ is progressing well and we are on target to complete the project in March 2012.”
