Based in Mackworth, the three-storey development will have 98 self-contained apartments for independent living.  The care complex will also have a shop, a health suite, gym, restaurant and a hair and beauty salon.

Mansell’s contract includes the demolition of the existing building, the Arthur Neale House care home, in Hanwell Way. Work starts on site this month and is due to be completed in autumn 2012.

The £12.2m project is a partnership between Sanctuary Group, Derby City Council, which has donated the land plus a £2.2m grant, and the Homes and Communities Agency, which is investing £2m in the scheme.
