Miller will build six schools for Leicester City Council with a combined value of £43.9m.
Work is expected to start on the first school in phase 3, Children’s Hospital School, in summer 2012. Phase 4 should start in winter 2012.
Miller ե֭ chief executive Chris Webster said: “We are delighted to have been confirmed as the construction partner for the next two phases of the Leicester BSF Programme. We have already established a successful partnership with Leicester City Council and we are looking forward to sharing continued success as we deliver the next batch of schools in phases 3 and 4.
“Phase 1 saw us deliver award winning education environments which have already brought numerous benefits to students, staff and local communities. We are currently on site with phase 2 and are confident that by continuing close collaboration with Leicester City Council, the learning environments delivered will more than meet 21st Century education demands.”
Leicester City Council BSF programme director David Martin said: "As part of the Leicester consortium, Miller ե֭ are valued partners in our BSF programme and we welcome, not only the close partnership working which is delivering transformed schools, but also the opportunities for employment this programme brings to Leicester City."
Phase 2 began in May 2011 at Rushey Mead Secondary School in May, the first of three schools to be rebuilt in this £16m phase. Completion of this is scheduled for May 2013.
Phase 3, to start in summer 2012, sees the delivery of four new schools: Children’s Hospital School, a refurbishment project; St Paul’s Catholic School, a mixture of both new build and major refurbishment works; and Hamilton School and Netherhall School, two separate schools on one site, will involve a new co-location of a Special Education Needs school with a secondary school.
Phase 4 comprises a new school for Keyham Lodge School and new build and part refurbishment works for Millgate School.
Mr Webster added: “Being confirmed as the construction partner on these contracts enables us to continue our working relationship with the Council as we work together on programmes of work over the long-term. A key driver in our strategy set out at the beginning of 2011 was the education market where we have an unrivalled reputation for innovative, quality builds, delivered to both budget and programme.
“ե֭ in education has a major role to play in the economic recovery, and we are delighted to be working with Leicester City Council to deliver these projects which in turn deliver wider economic benefits for the area.”
