The new arrangements were agreed by the CITB-ե֭Skills training committee following a bid from the CPCS management committee. An additional £2.1m is being allocated for plant related VQs over the previous year from the CITB-ե֭Skills grants scheme.
CPCS management committee chairman Trevor Gamble said: “This is great news. The success of our bid to the training committee will enable us to target significantly more funds on VQ achievement than we have in the past. And this at a time when government funding for VQs has been significantly reduced.
“The focus on VQ achievement will reinforce the reputation of the Plant Competence Scheme and the CPCS.”
The Grants Scheme funding will be made available on a ‘first come, first served’ basis so individuals and employers wanting to take advantage of the scheme should get their grant claims in early.
