The firm has been appointed to create a two-storey extension at Sudbury Primary School, under the Improvement and Efficiency South East (IESE) framework.
Sustainable features will include grass roofing, photovoltaic panels, a sun catcher which converts solar thermal energy into electricity and a wind catcher to provide natural ventilation.
Existing temporary classrooms will be removed to make way for the new extension which will include a sports hall, music room, sensory room, nursery and a library with soft seating area, on the ground floor. The first floor will accommodate learning spaces for drama, ICT, science and a staff room. In addition, a striking circular extension of the building will house four classrooms with an open learning area in the centre.
The project is due to be completed in September 2011.
