It will be working for Sociedad Concesionaria AutovÃa de la Plata on the project, which involves the design, construction, maintenance, operation and finance of a 49km two-lane dual carriageway between Benavente and Zamora. The Spanish government signed a €998m (£865m) contract for the scheme in December 2012 with a consortium of Cintra, Acciona and Meridiam.
The new road will bypass the existing single carriageway through local villages and form the final section of the 809km A-66 AutovÃa de la Plata highway, connecting Gijon in the north to Seville in the south. Work is due to take 24 months and the consortium will be responsible for the road's maintenance for 30 years.
