The distribution capital delivery services (DCDS) contract runs for an initial two years, with the potential to extend by another four years at an initial estimated value of £7m a year.
Under the terms of the agreement, MUS will support UK Power Networks through the delivery of capital maintenance activities, including asset replacement and burying over overhead powerlines underground, across its southeast area covering Surrey, Sussex, Kent and South London.
MUS chief executive Jim Arnold said: “This new framework award presents our business with an opportunity to continue its long-established relationship with UK Power Networks including activities related to overhead lines. Our focus continues to be to support our client by delivering best in class standards in safety, service delivery, customer service and innovation.”
In 2015, MUS was chosen to work as part of UK Power Networks’ capital delivery alliance, a new partnership planning to deliver a £1bn investment in the refurbishment and upgrade of electricity substations, cables and power lines across the southeast over the next 12 years.
