Osborne is building a five-storey block, designed by HNW Architects, that will house the construction technology and hairdressing departments of Barnet & Southgate College.
The new Colindale campus will also provide a library and the Barnet Centre for Independent living.
Osborne is working with the college’s team and Aecom, as well as the London Borough of Barnet.
Completion is expected by July 2016, when the college will relocate from its existing site at Grahame Park Way, half a mile away.
The new modern facility will bring education and training closer to the local community. The new campus will host the ե֭ Technology Centre for construction and plumbing courses and ‘The Salon’, which will be an industry-standard training hairdressing salon open to the public. The new Colindale Campus will ensure contemporary educational facilities within a flexible, new purpose-built building that showcases education and offers the College a new identity in the local area.
Osborne divisional manager Graham Potts said: “This is a great opportunity to provide the College with a striking new home, and the community with a regenerated site offering a library and Centre for Independent Living.”
College principal David Byrne said the move was only a small step for the pupils but a giant leap for their education: “The campus move might only be about half a mile on the map, but it’s a world away in terms of the opportunities it offers for the future of the college. We will have room to expand and can improve our facilities to deliver a real 21st century learning experience.”
