Peel and Barratt have formed a strategic partnership for new housing development on a number of Peel’s residential sites in northwest and northeast England.
The initial framework agreement covers 80 acres of land on six sites. There is the potential for over 1,000 new homes to be built over the next five years with an end value approaching £200m, the companies said.
Barratt Homes Manchester Division will soon submit detailed planning applications on two sites in Wigan and South Liverpool for almost 500 houses. The aim is to start selling from these sites in time for next spring.
There are also plans to move on additional sites in Greater Manchester, Cheshire and South Yorkshire, once technical assessments have been concluded.
Peel director of land and planning Louise Morrissey described the agreement as “a new way forward during these times of recovery for markets generally and the house building industry in particular”.
