Liverpool City Council has resolved to grant full planning permission for the construction of 268 homes on a site in Speke, to the south of the city.
The joint developers are The Peel Group and Barratt Homes. This is the first fruits of a strategic partnership that they have formed to bring forward new housing development on a number of Peel’s residential sites in the northwest and northeast of England.
Peel director of land and planning Louise Morrissey said on securing planning consent: “We are pleased to achieve this significant success to help towards the continuing regeneration of the Speke-Garston corridor. Peel is happy to have found the right partner and projects to deliver significant investment in major new development schemes to serve local demand.”
Barratt Manchester managing director Neil Goodwin added: “We are delighted to have worked so quickly and successfully through the planning process and can now look forward to starting on site and to building and selling much-needed new Barratt homes in Speke. Our on-going, constructive relationship with Liverpool City Council assisted in the planning application being determined in early course. This is a great achievement very early in the life of the Framework Agreement between Peel and Barratt and we are looking forward to further progress in the coming months.”
