The site is currently occupied by Harman Technology, which took over the site in 2005 from photographic company Ilford. The site has produced photographic products for more than a century, but large areas of the site are no longer required.
The proposals would see up to £100m being invested to build a smaller seven acre campus for Harman and a housing development of up to 375 new homes. It would include 15 acres of newly-accessible public open space and a sports pitch with changing facilities.
A detailed planning application for the Harman Technology facility has now been submitted to Cheshire East Council along with an outline planning application for the housing and community space. If approved, it is anticipated preparatory work could start later this year.
Trafford Park-based MPSL is the architect on the project.
