The construction contract is expected to be signed within two years.
The document signed by Rusatom Overseas CEO Dzhomart Aliev and Jordan Atomic Energy Commission chairman Khaled Toukan sets out the obligations of both parties for the first stage of the two-unit nuclear power plant construction project with total capacity of 2000MW.
The agreement provides for Rusatom’s design of the water cooling system, feasibility study, oversight of the site evaluation process, and environmental impact assessment. These activities have to be completed within 30 months and being paid for by the Jordanian government. Â
