The €640 )£565m) project involves the construction of a new 47km second carriageway and 4km of single carriageway, as well as renovation of the existing 67km route as part of the country’s ‘fourth generation’ highway programme.
Colombia president Juan Manuel Santos said that highway will connect the country with good roads, from Ecuador to Venezuela.
Sacyr already had three other highway projects in the country, involving a total investment of about €1.7bn. The ‘fourth generation’ construction and modernisation programme accounts for a total investment of €25bn.
