The WWTP will be built in a new location, though construction of a pumping station on the existing site will mean that current collection and discharge points can remain in use. Â The plant, which will serve San Antoni de Portmany and Santa Eularia des Riu has a construction period of 33 months.
Biological Treatment will be based on an activated sludge process with nutrients removal followed by a tertiary treatment for reusing the treated water. The sludge will be stabilized by anaerobic digestion and dewatered. In case of emergency the water could also be treated by a chemical process.
The new WWTP is designed to provide a high level of flexibility as well as low operational and maintenance costs.
