Sany is owned by Liang Wengen, ranked by Forbes magazine as the third richest person in China. In 2010 he recruited former Manitowoc crane designer John Lanning in 2010 with a directive to design a market-busting crane series. The result was launched at the 2011 Conexpo trade show in Las Vegas.
This week, at Bauma 2013 in Munich, they were launched onto the European market, fully CE marked for European conformity.
The SC8100, 8200 and 8300 models are rated at 100, 200 and 300 tonnes respectively. Aside from their technical lifting capabilities, a striking feature is the rounded cab, styled by Porsche Design Studios and dubbed ‘Ultracab’.
