Sheffield Hallam University plans £25m expansion

21 Nov 11 SHEFFIELD Hallam University has announced a £25m plan to construct a new building at Collegiate Crescent campus.

The proposed “state-of-the-art” teaching complex at Collegiate Crescent is subject to planning permission, but the aim is to have the first parts of the building in use by September 2014.

The project is designed primarily for the Faculty of Development and Society, and will include a 220-seat lecture theatre and specialist teaching facilities. There will also be student social space, catering facilities, customer services and facilities management.

Vice Chancellor Prof Philip Jones said: “Thanks to careful financial management the University has been operating at a surplus in recent years, and we have decided that now is the right time to further invest in our infrastructure.”
