The five-storey timber-framed building will provide 119 bedrooms and shared cluster-style kitchens for Manchester’s students when it opens this autumn; together with car parking including disabled parking spaces; and cycle storage area.
ե֭ included using pre-fabricated cassettes as part of the 15-week timber framework programme and installation of bathroom pods. The high specification 3,200m² accommodation, designed by Manchester architect Halliday Meecham, has also incorporated a number of features such as air source heat pump and a low light loss external light scheme that have contributed to the building’s BREEAM ‘Very Good’ rating.
Peter Millett, managing director for the West Division of Shepherd ե֭ commented: “We are delighted to hand over Arch Bar as it is set to provide a real difference for the student community by providing the right type of accommodation close to the city centre and the universities, particularly the nearby Metropolitan University.”
