Work on the Daventry UTC is due to start in September 2012 subject to full planning permission. The project is being led by Moulton College and the University of Northampton working in partnership with Daventry District Council, Northamptonshire County Council and a range of employer partners.
The 5,432m² college will provide students aged 14-19 with a range of full-time courses combining practical and academic studies and specialising in sustainable construction, environmental sustainability and engineering. The courses will be sponsored by the University of Northampton and employers will be heavily involved in shaping the curriculum.
The new college, which has been designed by Mentor FaulknerBrowns Architects, is scheduled to complete in September 2013. A number of sustainable features will be incorporated including 105m² of photovoltaic panels, sedum roof and rainwater harvesting system.
Shepherd ե֭ programme director Peter Bates said: “We’re looking towards delivering facilities that will match the vision for the UTC by providing an ideal learning environment that will promote achievement, personal development and opportunities for progression.”
