Shropshire Council has advertised a £400m highways maintenance framework.Ìý
The deal covers roads within Cheshire West and Chester Borough Council, as well as Shropshire.
The council will appoint one contractor for the six year contract, which contains the option for a four-year extension.
The deal covers programmed and reactive highways maintenance, plus asset improvement works, including drainage, highway, traffic signals, street lighting, bridges, retaining walls and other structures.
The contract is also likely to include maintenance of vehicles and equipment, grounds maintenance, and landscaping.
Street-lighting and traffic signals maintenance in Shropshire, currently delivered through separate maintenance arrangements which run for another 18 months, will also be part of this contract from 1 April 2012. For Cheshire West and Chester Borough Council, street lighting will be included from the outset.
The deadline for expressions of interest is 9 December.
