A deal was concluded on 28 April 2011 for the 100% acquisition of Beaver 84 from the parent company SIG Trading for an undisclosed sum.
Dr Altrad said that it was an exciting acquisition of a company that is strategically located for the convenience of customers, with a UK-wide pool of expertise as well as the benefits of local knowledge and support.
Beaver 84 has approximately 150 employees and a turnover of about £25m per annum generated principally from sales of scaffolding, fencing and groundworks products, with a secondary element of hire.
The business will continue to operate from 11 locations around the UK with Steve Tysoe continuing to head up the business with its dedicated team of employees. The business will be renamed Altrad Beaver 84 Limited.
The acquisition forms part of a bigger plan to provide the UK market with products and services from Altrad, which specialises in the manufacturing and sales of scaffolding, cement mixers and wheelbarrows, together with providing additional services in the scaffolding sector.
It brings the total of Altrad companies to 53, with most located in Europe and several across the world.
After 25 years of growth, the strategy of the Altrad group remains to grow the business in a controlled and sustainable manner for the benefit of the customers, employees, shareholders and partners. Dr Altrad is very keen to hear from companies that are interested in joining the group if they are involved in any element of scaffolding, cement mixers or wheelbarrows.
This will be a record year for the Altrad Group, which has its headquarters in Montpellier in the south of France. The group said that its strategy has proved to be resilient even through a deep recession and that the business is now well positioned for another substantial phase of growth, oth organic and through acquisitions.
This is the third UK aquisition, following those of BarOmix and Belle Group. The sales of Altrad Plettac multi-directional system scaffolding have been developing very well in the UK since the acquisition of Belle in January 2009, according to the company.
